why the arts matter
At the Aurora Cultural Centre, we believe that arts, culture, and heritage play a role in changing our world and our community. This is the fabric that deepens our understanding of our shared experience, and creates a more compassionate society.
art in a restored 1886 victorian-era schoolhouse
While we are located in a beautifully-restored 1886 schoolhouse, our offerings reflect a contemporary approach to the arts in the community. We proudly program four vibrant gallery exhibition spaces, a range of instructional classes for children, teens and adults, an eclectic live music series, special family events, summer arts camps, and offer stunning rental spaces for a unique experience. Partnerships – with our community, businesses, schools and more – are at the heart of our operations, and vital to our success.
Most noteworthy, four galleries throughout the building feature a vibrant and revolving slate of exhibitions, spanning professional solo, group and community showcases. Current gallery exhibition information can be found here.
Gallery admission is at no charge; donations are gratefully appreciated.
In addition, the Centre is a registered Canadian charity, generously funded in part by the Town of Aurora. We are proud to have earned the Imagine Canada Trustmark, demonstrating excellence in non-profit operations. Our professional staff is supported by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and enthusiastic team of volunteers.
