Historic Columbia manages six historic sites in South Carolina’s capital city. Sites include an 1820s urban estate, a museum of reconstruction in a former presidential home, and the residence of a free Black couple during the antebellum era establish a legacy that would enable five subsequent generations to thrive at the site. In addition to house museum experiences, the organization manages 14 acres of period-appropriate gardens that, through living collections and extensive wayside signs, collectively tell the story of 200 years of landscape history in the region.
