Historic Spanish Point is a unique, 30-acre site overlooking beautiful Little Sarasota Bay in Osprey, Florida. The museum preserves and interprets 4,000 years of history, beginning with an archaeology exhibition housed inside a prehistoric shell midden. The museum also presents Florida’s pioneer life through a homestead house, citrus packinghouse, chapel, and pioneer cemetery. Additionally, Historic Spanish Point features formal gardens and lawns created in the early 20th century by Mrs. Potter Palmer as part of her winter estate. Nature trails and boardwalks allow visitors to explore Florida’s native plant communities, and the site also features a Butterfly Garden. Picnic tables are available.
