The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth’s vision is to explore, preserve & share our rich heritage so it isn’t lost forever. With this in mind, the Society seeks to promote, preserve & present the history of the Town of Yarmouth, Massachusetts & its vicinity. Programs are aimed at improving the quality of life through educational & historical presentations, walks & special events. Historical buildings include a sea captain’s home & museum, gate house, Quaker chapel, blacksmith shop & cobbler shop. Next to the museum grows magnificent 120+ year old Weeping Beech tree, the largest on Cape Cod & part of 50 acres of nature trails belonging to the Society.

Experienced docents provide museum tours. Special events include lectures, concerts, house tours & experiencing the Society’s large collection of period costumes. Our unique Indigenous Peoples programs, presented by the Nipmuc – Wampanoag, tell the history of the Woodland Indians who occupied Plymouth Colony & can be tailored to any age.
