The Nordic Museum is the only pan-Nordic museum in the United States dedicated to sharing Nordic and Nordic-American culture and art. Currently located in a former school building owned by Seattle Public Schools, The Nordic Museum is building a new, state-of-the art facility planned to open in 2018. The Nordic Museum first opened its doors in 1980 and 36 years later continues to fulfill its mission:
The Nordic Museum shares Nordic culture with people of all ages and backgrounds by exhibiting art and objects, preserving collections, providing educational and cultural experiences, and serving as a community gathering place.
