Alex Buchanan’s sculptures transform discarded materials like retired tugboat ropes, construction scraps, and iron rods into art. He challenges us to see the beauty and purpose in these materials, suggesting our waste problem stems from not valuing them beyond their initial use. The patinas and wear tell their stories, making them tactile and aesthetically rich, honoring their industrial origins while highlighting the beauty of marine culture.
