The Bakersfield Museum of Art (BMoA) strives to inspire and engage diverse audiences by providing a broad spectrum of creative visual arts experiences through the exhibition and preservation of fine art, educational programs, community outreach, and special events.

Since opening in 1956, the Bakersfield Museum of Art (BMoA) has welcomed thousands of guests through its doors each year to enjoy cultural events, educational programming, and world-renowned exhibitions. BMoA is the only Accredited Museum of Art in the southern San Joaquin Valley and an important cultural asset for our Kern County residents.

The success of BMoA’s programming is exemplified through a history of long-running programming and a steadily increasing number of members participating in Museum visits and events.  BMoA’s Summer Art Camp attracts more than 250 students every summer; October brings the BMoA’s Via Arte Street Painting Festival at the Marketplace which draws an estimated 15,000 visitors; Looking to build a connection with future patrons and donors, BMoA established “Art After Dark” events which draws large crowds at after-hours events held quarterly.
