The Museum of Contemporary Art of Monterrey (MARCO) presents the exhibit Helen Escobedo: Ambientes totales (Helen Escobedo: Total Environments) which gives a contemporary perspective about one of the pioneering installation artists in Mexico.
Helen Escobedo is well known for her abstract artworks, her monumental sculptures located in public and institutional spaces, and also for her cultural manager career. In the late ‘60s, her process went from traditional techniques to specific sculptures and environments, ephemeral works that challenge the canon with critical statements and a strong sense of humor; it’s from this precise perspective that the exhibit has been formulated, reviewing a production period from 1969 until 2010.
This exhibition is a collaboration between the Museum of Contemporary Art in Monterrey (MARCO), Alameda Art Lab (Laboratorio Arte Alameda, LAA) and Helen Escobedo’s Artistic Fund.
