Historic Rangeley, also known as the Rangeley Lakes Region Historical Society, preserves the Rangeley Region’s history and engages the public through its museums, collections, programs, exhibits, and events.

Historic Rangeley operates two treasured museums: the Outdoor Heritage Museum in Oquossoc, Maine, and the Rangeley History Museum in downtown Rangeley, Maine. The two museums share the stories of the human experience extending back almost 13,000 years. From the first peoples that visited at the end of the last ice age, to the gilded age of outdoor recreational tourism in the 19th century, to the evolution of this community into the 21st century – Historic Rangeley’s collections and exhibits explore the fascinating past of this special place nestled in the mountains of Western Maine.
