Baltzer Meyer Historical Society is a non-profit 501C organization dedicated to preserving and studying old Westmoreland County and beyond, emphasizing Southwestern Pennsylvanian families. In 1996 the society gained possession of the Old Harrold Schoolhouse No. 8 and, in 1998, the Old Zion Lutheran Church. The schoolhouse and church are situated within the 158 acres of “Good Purpose” land granted by the son of the first Governor William Penn. The early German settlers preempted the acreage for religious and educational endeavors “always and forever.”

We are open by appointment on any weekday.
