Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison, Colorado is where the world’s first Stegosaurus bone fossils were excavated in 1877. The hogback located near world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre features more than 250 dinosaur and other Cretaceous age creature tracks on one side, and dozens of dinosaur bone fossils still embedded in Jurassic age rock on the other side of the ridge.
The mission at Dinosaur Ridge is to educate and inspire wonder in visitors of all backgrounds about the science and history of the fossils and natural resources found at Dinosaur Ridge, Triceratops Trail, and related paleontology sites within the Morrison-Golden Fossil Areas National Natural Landmark.
Staff and volunteers practice responsible stewardship and share a strong commitment to preserving the fossils and natural resources at these sites for future generations to study and enjoy.
