The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center (FBCDC) is a very special project of the Children’s Museum of Houston. The Discovery Center occupies a 12,000 square foot restored building and features five children’s exhibits. It gives the Museum the opportunity to enrich the educational lives of Fort Bend’s children by expanding cultural and educational family-focused opportunities.
The mission of FBCDC is aligned with the Children’s Museum of Houston’s mission of transforming communities through innovative, child-centered learning. The FBCDC’s goal is to respond to six essential community needs in Fort Bend County: to foster the development of children, increase and support parental engagement in children’s learning, provide learning experiences that reinforce and supplement school classroom instruction, protect against the negative effects that poverty has on educational attainment, serve a multicultural population, and promote workforce preparedness.
