The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center is a world-class art museum on the campus of Vassar College – the first art museum at a college or university that was part of the institution’s founding. Today, the permanent collection includes over 22,000 works, including major holdings of Hudson River school art, 20th century modernism (O’Keeffe, Picasso, Matisse, Calder, and many others), and photography. A diverse range of rotating temporary exhibitions features art in every medium from the historical to the contemporary – recent highlights include exhibitions on art and myths of the Hudson Valley and woodblock prints from Japan. The Loeb strives to be a catalyst for scholarly, creative, and social justice work by Vassar students and others. A lively events calendar includes family workshops, artists’ talks, panel discussions, live music, makers’ nights, and more. A centerpiece of the Loeb’s programming is Late Night at the Loeb, held weekly on Thursday evenings.
