Giants of the Earth Heritage Center is an educational institution in Spring Grove, Minnesota—the first Norwegian settlement in the state and a historic portal community for many immigrant farming families. Located in the scenic Driftless Region, we explore the area’s rich heritage as a deeply rooted, multi-generational immigrant farming community. Our name is inspired by Ole Rolvaag’s novel Giants in the Earth, which powerfully captures the immigrant experience. Our exhibits, genealogy resources, oral histories, events, and programs connect past and present. We also feature a gift shop highlighting local makers and regional goods, serving as a community anchor and welcoming space for learning, reflection, and celebration.
