The Granville Historical Society, founded in 1885, is a dynamic, vibrant organization devoted to the history of Granville, Ohio. The Society operates a museum and archives in addition to publishing books and periodicals, hosting lectures, helping with genealogical and historical research, and much more.
The Granville Historical Society Museum, located in the historic Bank of the Alexandrian Society building which was erected in 1816, is open seasonally and displays important, historical artifacts from the area. Included in the collection are an enormous variety of items from a horse-drawn wagon, to a bassoon that was played in action during the War of 1812, to the replicated early twentieth-century kitchen of a beloved Granville resident.
Additionally, the Robinson Research Center, a state-of-the-art archive, is open weekly, year-round, for the public to visit and access our extensive genealogical and other records.
