A National Historic Landmark, Langdon House is an exceptional 1784 Georgian mansion that George Washington “esteemed the first” in Portsmouth. Its reception rooms are of a grand scale suited to ceremonial occasions and are ornamented by elaborate wood carvings in the Rococo style. The house tells the story of the early colony of New Hampshire, Portsmouth’s mercantile boom, and the Colonial Revival movement.

Langdon House is open seasonally. Visit Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, June 4 through October 16.
