Explore Mississippi’s rich agricultural heritage! The museum is also home to the National Agricultural Aviation Museum, where you can see actual planes that once flew over Southern farmland. Trace the history of agriculture and forestry through an extensive collection of artifacts and lifelike exhibits from the early contributions of the Choctaw population, to turn-of-the-century forest conservation, to modern catfish farming. The Children’s Barnyard and Exhibit Barn lets you get up close to farm animals and historic and modern agriculture machinery. The gardens provide enjoyment year-round. The Fortenberry-Parkman Farm restoration and Bisland Cotton Gin, both circa 1860, tell the story of farm life in early MS. Walk down Main Street in “Small Town, MS” (circa 1920) and spend a day in the lives of the people who once toiled and worshiped in these buildings. Play checkers on the General Store’s porch, or pop inside for old-fashioned toys, treats, and local produce and honey.
