The Old Schwamb Mill in Arlington, Massachusetts, is located on the oldest continuously operating mill site in the United States. Slated for destruction in 1969, the Mill was saved by an effort spearheaded by Patricia C. Fitzmaurice, who, along with other preservationists, formed the Schwamb Mill Preservation Trust Inc., a nonprofit charitable, educational trust that maintains the Mill’s mission today. The Mill produces and sells museum-quality, hand-turned wooden oval and circular frames, created much as they were in 1864.

Visitors to the Mill-Museum enjoy a full calendar of events, including tours of the Mill, lectures, music performances, art and history exhibitions, and special events, including the annual Oktoberfest celebration highlighting the Schwamb family’s German heritage. In 1971, the Old Schwamb Mill was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places.
