The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts showcases outstanding collections of American and international ceramics, contemporary and early Texas art, American glass, and one of the most important collections of Spanish colonial and Latin American Religious Art. In even numbered years we present the largest museum-sponsored ceramics competition and in odd numbered years, a national outdoor sculpture competition. We also host one of the nation’s largest national Plein Air painting competitions. Our building is a distinct and widely recognized landmark designed by Malcolm Hollzman which opened in 1999. The Museum began operations in 1985 in an adaptive reuse of a building at the nearby historic Fort Concho.
