The Filson Historical Society, founded in 1884, is a privately supported historical society dedicated to preserving the history of Kentucky and the Ohio Valley Region. We offer daily tours of our historic Ferguson Mansion, our three rotating public exhibits spaces, and the Owsley Brown II History Center, which includes five floors of archival space and two event halls. Get a glimpse of the past in our new exhibits or dig into family history with our updated library and research areas. Throughout the year we also offer more than 70 programs to the public, everything from music concerts to historic lectures to scholarly conferences.
Daily tours of the historic carriage house, mansion, library spaces, and history center are offered at 2pm. The library and special reading rooms are open weekdays from 9am-4:30pm. The Filson’s Research Library will be closing at 12:30 pm on the third Friday of each month. Please visit the Filson website to register for a tour, research appointment, or to attend a program.
