The Greater Denton Arts Council (GDAC) has served the City of Denton and surrounding county since 1971 as a catalyst for creativity, advocacy, and collaboration. Our flagship facility, the historic Patterson Appleton Arts Center, which was originally the city’s steam power plant in 1929, is home to three gallery exhibition spaces, an art studio, dance rehearsal studio, and outdoor graffiti wall. The centerpiece of the building is our main gallery, Festival Hall, with 5,000 square feet of open space for private event rentals, soaring ceilings, and original industrial architecture. We host rotating solo and group exhibitions by contemporary artists throughout the year, all of which are free and open to the public.
As serving the community through access to art and arts education is central to GDAC’s mission, we provide foundational support to local artists and fellow arts organizations. To that end, we also collaborate with local universities, Denton ISD, and the City of Denton. We also offer a full calendar of programs, workshops, and other events that are free and open to the public year-round.
