Troup County Historical Society was founded on the dreams and determination of local citizens who were emphatic about our area’s historical relevance. In 1972, those founding members set forth a mission to ensure the preservation, provide for conservation, and plan for the education of West Georgia’s history. In 1981, a building for such work became a reality and housed an extensive genealogical library and space and equipment for the local government records repository. After thirty-six years of collecting, writing, researching, and careful planning, Legacy Museum on Main opened its doors in 2008 to critical acclaim.
Today, TCHS continues to reclaim and maintain the stories of West Central Georgia and her people through exciting events, engaging exhibits, and entertaining programs.
