The Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum is located in the heart of downtown Vallejo. It is housed in a beautiful building that was built for the Vallejo City Council in 1927. The museum’s mission is to collect and preserve the history of Vallejo, Mare Island, and the surrounding area. The permanent and temporary exhibits are complemented by exhibits that show Vallejo’s cultural diversity and that appeal to all ages including a family-free day. The museum boasts a working periscope from a World War II-era submarine. Vallejo was the State’s first Capital and has plenty of history to share and enjoy.
