Our mission at Woodlawn is to nurture curiosity and a sense of place by promoting Downeast Maine’s cultural heritage through diverse educational and recreational experiences. The Woodlawn campus includes an early 19th century historic house museum, 180 acres of grounds and trails for public use and a new facility for community events, educational programs, lectures, and archival storage and study of historic records. Last year, in addition to several thousand campus visitors touring the house, using the trails, and attending seasonal events, we hosted over fifty Woodlawn Educational and Community Engagement programs such as Science Saturdays, a monthly local history lecture series, home schooling events, nature festivals, and many more. Our campus is open to the public from dawn to dusk year-round.
