The History Center, located in the heart of Woodstock’s historic district, explains how Woodstock has evolved over the past 250 years from a frontier territory to the vibrant community that it is today. Visitors can tour the museum which features large collections of antiques and several new exhibitions each year.
The Woodstock History Center is dedicated to sharing and preserving the history of Woodstock through inspiring educational experiences and dynamic collections.
Our main focus is to:
•Preserve and document the uniqueness of our historic building as well as other buildings in this town through fascade easements, photo documentation, and historic structure reports.
•Preserve a non-building collection that reflects the culture and history of the Town of Woodstock so that future generations may understand the importance of this place.
•Educate the public about our shared history through lectures, workshops, programs and events.
We have annual exhibitions, provide tours, and contribute historic information and resources. We work closely with the local school system to facilitate community history projects.
