Jamaican-born ceramicist Walford Campbell traces an extraordinary creative voyage, delving into an intimate and lifelong relationship with the earth. First introduced to pottery through the functional traditions of the islands, he studied in England in the 1970s, where his eyes were opened to the aesthetic and sculptural potential of the medium. Over more than four decades, Campbell has grown by balancing and integrating these approaches to a captivating effect. “Vessels” chronicles this journey through the mysterious essence of acceptance in organic and refined wares, both practical and abstract.
