A sweeping survey of American Impressionism, “In a New Light” traces the emergence of an American style of painting from Hudson River School landscapes to French-Impressionist-inspired works to modernist trends of the early 20th century. The exhibition explores how artists interpreted America’s rural, maritime, and urban spaces and portrayed daily life using Impressionist devices.

“In a New Light” features more than 50 artists including Colin Campbell Cooper, Childe Hassam, George Inness, and Thomas Moran. This exhibition is on loan through the Bank of America Art in our Communities® program.
