As the capstone to our extensive Archaeology & Native American Galleries, the Lance Foster Ioway Chi is an immersive and deeply reflective recreation of the wooden homes, or chis, created by the Ioway tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. Developed in collaboration with the late Tribal and Historic Preservation Officer of the Iowa Tribe, Lance Foster, this exhibit invites visitors to gather around the fire and listen to 45 minutes of oral history and folklore of the Iowa Tribe in their own words, exploring themes of community, legacy, spirituality, and sustainable living.
