“Living on the Edge” features large panoramas that build upon Dutch photographer Teake Zuidema’s fascination with coastal locations where the forest turns abruptly into marsh, creek, beach, or sea. Zuidema identifies with the oaks, cabbage palms, cedars and cypresses, and honors them as dramatic characters involved in heroic battles that, sooner or later, will push them over the final edge between life and death. As an immigrant and a newcomer to the coastal area, this project has also been a way for Zuidema to make the coast his home.
