The Yellowstone Art Museum celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States of America with the exhibition of the Kent “Spirit of Independence Bicentennial Portfolio.” The portfolio was created in 1974, sponsored by the Lorillard Tobacco Company and named after the Kent cigarette. Lorillard commissioned twelve of the country’s most celebrated artists to complete an edition of 125 lithographs or serigraphs which were then to be distributed to museums throughout the country. The inaugural exhibition of the portfolio was held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
