Margaret Shipman explores the surprising beauty, symbolism, and history of wild plants and medicinal herbs. Drawing inspiration from 19th-century botanical illustrations and the circular compositions of mandalas, Shipman creates intricate paintings in which roots, stems, leaves, and flowers radiate outward in arrangements she calls “chaos mandalas.”
