“Julius Stockfleth: Dawn of a Century” highlights the work of an early Texas artist known for documenting significant geographical locations and pivotal historical moments along the Texas coast. Stockfleth’s most notable paintings depict moments before, during, and after the hurricane of 1900 in Galveston, Texas. This exhibition marks a meaningful return for Stockfleth’s work, which was first presented at AMSET in October 1987, several weeks after the museum’s move to its new location in downtown Beaumont.
