Alexandria P. Clay is a charcoal and mixed media collage artist. She lives and works in Durham, North Carolina. Clay obtained her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2018. Raised in Raleigh, NC, her work draws upon the experiences of black women and girls living in the southern United States. She is an artist and part-time educator.

“My practice responds to the need for black women and girls to document our daily placemaking. The spaces that we create as safe havens for ourselves and our communities are blueprints for future spaces and institutions that will no longer be built with a default of whiteness at the center. I document these spaces through the use of mixed media collage, painting, and a wet charcoal drawing method.” ─ Alexandria P. Clay
